The aluminum market, following the same path as other sectors, such as steel and construction materials, will end the year with a decline in consumption. It is estimated to be close to 4% compared to 2022. The forecast is from the Brazilian Aluminum Association (Abal).
In the middle of the first half of the year, the sector was forecasting a contraction of around 2.3% for 2023, compared to last year’s 1.584 million tonnes – a record volume for the sector in the country. “We estimate that it may stay at 1.52 million tonnes this year,” said Abal’s head, Janaína Donas, in a recent interview with Valor.
