Minister plans mass repeal of outdated infrastructure regulation

Infrastructure Minister Tarcísio Freitas is planning a “mass revocation” of close to 1,000 rules and decrees that no longer make sense but which are still on the books as part of efforts to simplify the ministry’s labors. Valor
has learned that subsidiary agencies are also combing through their archives to find outdated laws – such as norms that applied only to projects linked to the 2014 World Cup or 2016 Olympics but which are still on the
books and cause some confusion – and that civil aviation agency Anac could eliminate as many as 1,000 norms, transportation infrastructure agency Dnit could eliminate 530, the National Waterway Transportation
Agency (Antaq) might eliminate 458, and the National Terrestrial Transportation Agency (ANTT) could eliminate another 186 after a previous cleanup of outdated norms.
